Behind Breaking Changes
Breaking Changes is centered around Andie and Evan James, the parents of the heroine in The Beta Test. I had written both books before The Beta Test was released — in my mind it feels like one continuous story even though they’re written as interconnected standalones. Andie and Evan’s separation was a major factor in Avery’s life in book 1, but I’d planned from the beginning to write a marriage-in-crisis book about them too. I built the James family history around that plan.
Breaking Changes is another software term, keeping with the same theme as The Beta Test. A breaking change is a change in one part of a software system that potentially causes other components to fail. The title has double meaning — one relates to the progression of the Connection Services app’s development. The other is that I thought this software term seemed very applicable to a second chance romance. What in Andie and Evan’s relationship changed to cause their marriage to fail?
I love Andie and Evan, and I hope you do too. And if you were worried about Avery’s family, this will wrap it all up nicely for you! There are also cameos by Avery, Jake, Braden, and Analiese (if you squint). Of course, book 1 was Young Adult and this one is Adult, but it’s still a kisses-only romance.

PS — I’m about halfway through draft 1 of book 3 right now. It’s been a rough first draft! Right now, I think book 3 will release in February or March 2027.
